Bartender/Front of House Supervisor
Bartender with the ability to quickly make drinks, take orders and serve food at the bar, and make drinks for servers to serve to their guests. Extensive knowledge of wine preferred. Responsible for leading the front of the house and making sure that service on the floor is running smoothly, that the restaurant is clean and inviting, and that guests’ and servers’ concerns are handled promptly and professionally. Minimum five years bar/FOH experience required. Bartending school preferred, but not required.
Cafe servers are responsible for ensuring a positive guest experience by greeting guests warmly, seating them, taking orders and serving food promptly, handling cash and credit cards and making change accurately, stocking supplies, cleaning tables and counters, and resetting tables to specifications. One to two years’ experience preferred.
Retail/Deli Counter Staff
Retail/deli counter staff are responsible for assisting guests with retail purchases, including wines, and for preparing, slicing, wrapping, packaging, weighing, pricing, and merchandising Astoria’s deli and retail products. Assist in plating charcuterie for the cafe, as directed by the chef. Responsible for keeping guests informed about our products, answering questions, making recommendations, and offering samples. Must have excellent verbal communication and listening skills. Minimum of two years’ retail and or deli counter experience required.
Full-time line cooks with a minimum of two years’ experience. Experience with saute, grill, flat top, fryer, and pizza oven. Responsible for prepping ingredients and assembling dishes according to restaurant recipes and specifications. Stock and maintain sufficient levels of food products at line stations to assure smooth service. Assist in food prep and other kitchen tasks during off-peak periods, as needed and as directed by the chef or other managers. High school degree or the equivalent required. Associates degree preferred.
Full- or part-time prep cooks with a minimum one year experience. Assist with food prep/mise en place: chopping vegetables, making salads, assembling entrees, and other tasks, as needed, including storing food and kitchen maintenance, sanitation, and organization. Additional responsibilities as specified by the chef or other managers. High school degree or equivalent required.
Full or part-time dishwasher. The dishwasher and general utility positions are responsible for washing dishes, glassware, flatware, pots, and pans using dishwashers or by hand. Responsible for maintaining the kitchen work areas, equipment, and utensils in clean and orderly condition and placing clean dishes, utensils, and cooking equipment in proper storage areas. Additional kitchen responsibilities as specified by the chef or other managers. One year experience preferred, but not required.
